| I am stationed with an artillery battalion attached to the 4th Infantry division somewhere on the east coast of Italy. Our battery posted here a week ago. | The first couple of days we knocked out the German artillery by sheer strength of numbers. Since then our spotters have been calling in coordinates to take out German tanks, convoys, and machine gun nests. |

| It is the dog days of summer and most us go shirtless. It gets hot running a heavy howitzer. | The German defenses have been tenacious, but the infantry is starting to move out of their foxholes. We won't be here much longer. |
